Many people research orthodontic treatment options before coming to our office, and they often see advertisements for Six Month Smiles, Fastbraces, and SmileDirectClub.

These companies have done a great job marketing their products and they promise faster and cheaper teeth straightening.

The allure for speedy and inexpensive orthodontic treatment is a strong one. What many people don’t consider is the safety and possible aftereffects of such treatments.

These treatments focus on straightening the front six teeth, the teeth that people see when you smile. The front six teeth can be moved quickly. However, when the teeth begin to move, the bite changes as well. The real work for an orthodontist is getting all the teeth to fit together and work together properly, creating a healthy and functional bite. Seeing an orthodontist ensures you are consulting with a specialist who is trained to treat the face, profile, soft tissue, bone, and teeth. This is why an orthodontist has 2-3 years of specialty training after becoming a dentist.

Having said that, some cases can be treated quickly in a safe and effective manner. And new orthodontic technology is helping make this possible. Spillers Orthodontics has the latest 3D orthodontic technology here in our office, helping keep costs down for you.

As a result, we’re able to treat minor cases quickly and with a price tag comparable to, or lower than, Six Month Smiles, Fastbraces, and SmileDirectClub. Our in-house aligner treatment ranges from $450–$2,880.

More difficult cases will certainly require longer treatment time. There is no one-size-fits-all orthodontic plan. Each case is different. There is no such thing as “fast” braces. Tooth movement is determined biologically by the body and bone, no matter what tool one chooses to move them with. Don’t be fooled by the name game!
