We Stand Against Bullying with the AAO

October is National Orthodontic Health Month. Orthodontists all over the world are taking a stand against bullying. Throughout the years, teeth have been a popular target for bullies. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) has been a great advocate against bullying, and recently, they started an anti-bullying initiative, called #bullyingbites.

Spillers Orthodontics is proud to be a participant in AAO’s Anti-Bullying campaign this month and we’re even prouder that AAO has chosen to showcase our photos in the campaign wrap-up! Dr. Spillers speaks of why he’s glad to be a part of the anti-bullying campaign, “It is so amazing to be able to help kids that are being bullied because of their teeth. I feel that I have the best job in the world when I can play a role in changing something so detrimental to their development, especially their self-confidence. Bullying is something we should all take a stand against. Together we can make a difference!”

We would like to shout out one of our patients, Rylee, who’s had to overcome bullying. She felt so strongly about this campaign that she created her own organization, #iLikeMe! Dr. Gordon says, “We are so proud of Rylee and her work to help others overcome bullying. Today, more than ever, we need people like Rylee to show the impressive strength and power of holding someone up rather than pulling someone down!” If you would like to learn more about Rylee and the #iLikeMe organization, follow @ilikemeorg and @spillersortho on Instagram and Facebook.
